What is the ‘Just the Beginning’ Faith-Raiser?
When we celebrated our Senior Pastor’s 20th anniversary, one consistent message resonated—Grove has done great things; but this is Just the Beginning! We embraced this theme believing that God has much more in store for us.
First, Just the Beginning (JTB) is a renewed call to prayer for each member and friend of Grove Church. JTB is a call to consider the many gifts God has bestowed on you, as well as an opportunity to hear how God is calling you to return those gifts in praise and service through His church. JTB is a three-year, over-and-above tithe and offering commitment for the purpose of building a sanctuary with the capacity to support our mission.
It is ‘Just the Beginning’ of what God has in store for Grove, for you and your family! Join with us! Your pledge or contribution ensures that Grove carries out the many ministries and programs needed to meet the needs of people.
The Purpose
The primary purpose of the JTB faith-raiser is to enhance and expand our ministries as we seek to fulfill God’s vision for Grove Church. While the faith-raiser includes new facilities, our focus is on becoming better equipped to support our ministries, serve our communities and set a benchmark for excellence in our ministry approach.
Why Build Now?
We’ve reached capacity in our current facilities, and God continues to bless us with more and more people seeking to be served, healed and made whole through the power of Jesus Christ. In order to respond to this blessing by being able to welcome and serve those who come in the future, we must provide this additional space. God has made His vision clear; it’s up to us to be obedient. Our current situation clearly calls for immediate action!
What can I do?
"'Just The Beginning" ' is a three-year campaign with the goal of raising $4.5 million to continue with site development for Vision Place and the expansion of our ministry influence. With our existing campus at 5910 West Norfolk Road and our new West Norfolk Road location we will impact the Hampton Roads area and greatly enhance our strategic ministries at Grove Church. By making this financial commitment, each Grovinian will enable Grove Church to continue to reach Hampton Roads and beyond, one life at a time.
Receive this faith-raiser into your mind and heart. Learn about it. Ask questions about it. Participate in JTB prayer, social activities and worship services. Share what you learn with others. Pray that God will guide Grove- and you personally – to go where God is leading in faith.
"Not equal gifts, but equal sacrifice" is the theme that describes our understanding of stewardship. The phrase restates the biblical principle of proportionate giving. Not everyone has the resources to make a multi-thousand dollar gift or million dollar gift, but every person can make a prayerful, God-led sacrificial gift. We encourage an equal sense of commitment and sacrifice throughout our congregation, with each
person prayerfully determining his or her own gift, in response to the goodness and leading of God. Where God gives vision, He makes provision!
How to Give
Planned Giving
By making a planned gift, you can make a significant gift to Grove to address some of the community’s most pressing issues through ministry and outreach--and gain financial and tax benefits for you and your family.
Bequests
A charitable bequest is one of the easiest and best ways to make a gift to the Church. By means of your will or other estate plan, you can name Grove Church as the beneficiary of a portion of your estate, or of particular assets in your estate.
There are many reasons to make a bequest. A bequest allows you to honor a loved one, while providing critical support to the “Just the Beginning” faith-raiser. Giving by bequest costs nothing now, yet it may give you a great deal of satisfaction to know that your future gift will live on.
Other Assets You Can Give
There are many assets that may be used to fund a significant gift to “Just the Beginning,” including appreciated securities, real estate, personal property, life insurance, and many others.
