About Marriner Christian Academy (MCA)
MCA is a religiously exempt early learning center. This means that the Code of Virginia (Section 63.1-196.3) exempts child day centers operated under the auspices of a religious institution from licensure. However, the following are required and have been met:
- Local Health Inspection (Sanitary and Food),
- Local Fire Inspection,
- Certificate of Occupancy,
- Verification of Required Staff/Child Ratios, and
- Staff Health Report.
The Academy is located in a 4,121 square feet, one-story, ranch-style structure. The center has a reception area, five (5) classrooms, a computer lab, a conference room, three (3) bathrooms, a kitchen, a library/coat area, and a multipurpose room. An outdoor play area is provided to the rear of the center. It encompasses approximately 5,120 square feet. The center has been approved to enroll sixty-seven (67) students
Staff members are certified by their practicing physicians to be free from any disability, which would prevent them from caring for children. Requirements have been met by all staff for Standard First Aid, Infant and Child CPR, and Adult CPR/AED. General and specific staff qualifications are located in the Academy Parent Handbook. Food services, hand washing procedures, supervision of children, and procedures for health screening and exclusion of sick children may also be found in the Academy Parent Handbook.

Our Philosophy
Marriner Christian Academy believes that every child enters the world with his/her own special and unique gifts and talents. We hope to strengthen the child’s social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual development as a base for all future education. Therefore, we are committed to providing each child the best opportunity to maximize the achievement of his/her potential.
Our Mission
Marriner Christian Academy’s mission is to provide quality, creative, and developmentally appropriate experiences for children in a loving, safe, and secure environment.
Our Goals
Marriner Christian Academy is committed to providing children with opportunities to accomplish the following goals:
- To grow in independence;
- To learn to give and share;
- To learn to get along with others;
- To develop self-control and self discipline;
- To develop good health practices, hygiene, and nutrition;
- To learn and practice large and small motor skills;
- To understand the world around them; and
- To foster the development of cognitive skills.
Our Environment
Young children want and need to feel safe and comfortable. Marriner Christian Academy is organized to maintain a clean, colorful, loving, child-size, and safe environment for the children and their parents. Our environment is designed to foster a love for learning, the building of self-concept, and one that values each child for being unique and special.
Our Board of Directors
A Board of Directors, representing staff from the Academy, parents, church members, citizens from the education and business communities, and church members who have interest in pre-school children and demonstrate leadership qualities, governs Marriner Christian Academy. The Board oversees the general operation of the Academy, policy, financial management, and planning.
Our Children
Marriner Christian Academy believes there is no greater investment in a better future than to positively influence the lives of children. Learning in young children is the result of interaction between the child’s thoughts and experiences with materials, ideas, and people. These experiences should match the child’s developing abilities, while also challenging the child’s interest and understanding. Therefore, children at Marriner Christian Academy will soar, they will go far, they are bright and Shinning STARS.
Our Parents
The success of children at Marriner Christian Academy is greatly dependent on the cooperation and support of parents who are committed to providing their children and themselves with the best possible opportunity to live happy and productive lives.
Our Staff
The staff members at Marriner Christian Academy are experienced in early childhood development and education. We understand how children learn and grow and are committed to providing opportunities for children to experience a love and joy for learning in a positive atmosphere.
